UPDATE: The Traditional Latin Mass Returns to Greenville,
SC
More than 200 turned out Sunday, Sept. 9 for the first Traditional Latin
Mass in Greenville in nearly 40 years. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass
was celebrated by Fr. James Buckley, FSSP, and families from the entire
region of Greenville-Spartanburg-Easley-Columbia as well as Atlanta and
bordering North Carolina.
The hastily-put together choir was led by Loraine Schneider, a recent
convert, whose chant knowledge and skills are phenomenal. Special thanks
to Scott Spence (a convert) who coordinated the altar serving with Renaurd
Wilson (16), another recent convert and prospective seminarian.
Also, special thanks to those of St. Francis de Sales Latin Mass community
of Altanta, who came up to support us, Jim Way and Bill Hayes of Una Voce
Hendersonville (NC) and Shannon Story of Una Voce Charlotte, who made
the trek to Greenville and brought others.
Fr. Newman, our parish Priest, has made it clear that he will be open
to celebrating the Old Mass any time that a priest from the Fraternity
or other traditional order is available.
