| Una Voce Home | Superior General Announces FSSP AppointmentELMHURST, Pa- Father Arnaud Devillers, FSSP, Superior General of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, has announced the appointment of Father Paul J. Carr, FSSP to the position of Secretary General of the Fraternity. Father Carr will assume his position at the Fraternity's international headquarters this summer, following the completion of his three-year term as North American District Superior. Previous to his appointment as District Superior, Father Carr taught Moral Theology, Latin and Ecclesiology at Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary and studied Sacred Liturgy at the Pontifical Institute of Sant' Anselmo, Rome. During Father Carr's tenure, new local Masses or apostolates were established by the North American District in Colorado Springs, CO, Post Falls, ID, Lafayette, IN, Charleston, SC and Mountain Home, AR. Father Carr's term as District Superior also saw the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Fraternity in the United States and Canada and the initiation of the yearly consecration of the North American District to the Blessed Mother. This spring, following Father Carr's invitation, Bishop Fernando Rifan and Father Carr visited District parishes, apostolates and Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary, the Fraternity's North American international seminary. Bishop Rifan is the Bishop in charge of the Apostolic Administration of St. John Vianney, Campos, Brazil. Father Carr was born in Manchester, England and attended St. Bede's College, the former minor seminary of the Diocese of Salford and continued his studies at St. John's College, Manchester. Following theological studies in Europe, he was ordained in 1992 by the late Bishop Licinio Rangel. During his time in North America, Father Carr formed an attachment to the United States and Canada, "I will be sorry to be leaving North America. I have made many friends during the time I have been here, and will miss both the priests and faithful of the District. I will take with me many fond memories." |
