Bishop Perry Says Mass for an Interested Parish![]() St. Columbanus Church Bishop Joseph Perry of the Archdiocese of Chicago said a Pontifical High Mass at St. Columbanus on Sunday, October 1 at 3:00 PM. There were approximately 100 people attending, predominately African-Americans. This was the first time St. Columbanus has had this Mass since the reform. The parishoners were interested in seeing what the Traditional Mass looks like, and Bishop Perry set it up. The attendees were very enthusiastic about and inspired by the Mass. St. Columbanus has undergone a recent restoration after being renovated during the spirit-of-Vatican II era. But as the "table" part of the high altar remains in use as the Novus Ordo altar, Mass took place at one of the four beautiful side-altars. Bishop Perry has been a real promoter of the Latin Mass in general and has an excellent command of the rubrics, as well as a beautiful chanting voice. ![]() Main Altar
