Traditional Mass Advances in Wichita and Calumet City

The traditional Latin Mass has been approved to be offered at the beautiful and traditionally-appointed St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Calumet City, Illinois. Mass is currently being said at 7:30 AM on First Saturdays. A magnificent structure, the Romanesque-style church dates from 1930 and can be seen at the parish website:

In the Diocese of Wichita, Kansas the faithful are expressing their gratitude to Bishop Michael Jackels for giving permission for the traditional Mass to be celebrated 8:00 AM every Sunday and on all Holy Days of obligation. This will start with the first Sunday of September.

In further good news Msgr. Conley has been appointed the liaison between Bishop Jackels and those who attend these Latin Masses. "It looks like our many years of weekly rosaries are beginning to pay off!" reflected Mr. James Spencer of Wichita. "When we celebrate our twelfth anniversary on September 3, we'll have something very special to celebrate!"

The Wichita community has held a public recitation of the rosary every week for over a decade in hopes that this sort of permission would be forthcoming. As Mr. Spencer encouraged, "We must continue our Monday evening rosaries, both in thanksgiving for this wonderful gift and to ask the Blessed Virgin for her continued assistance."
