A Letter From Michael Davies to UVA

I am delighted that UVA is doing so well. I had never dared to hope that it would have this much initial success. The UVA newsletter launches an umbrella confederation of American traditional groups, with its main purpose to assist Una Voce chapters and affiliated groups in gaining access to the Traditional Mass and sacraments as encouraged by the words and actions of the Holy Father. Now, the nationwide network of Una Voce America Chapters are affiliated through UVA to the 30 year old International Una Voce Federation with affiliations in 20 countries. The number of Masses being celebrated in the U.S.A. is now in the hundreds. The St. Patrick’s Mass was a symbol of the vitality of the movement. In many cases Mass attendance is very high, e. g. , 900 at the two St. John Cantius Masses in Chicago, over 500 in St. Louis, and 500 in Pittsburgh. These Masses have a very high proportion of young people with families. An entire generation of young people is now growing up with the Tridentine Mass. This situation is paralleled throughout the world from Britain to Australia. There are now fifteen Vatican approved priestly societies and monastic communities dedicated to the celebration of the Traditional Mass. They are all swamped with vocations. American bishops are now inviting these priests into their dioceses and giving them vocations ... It should be noted that no official of Una Voce at the national or international level receives any salary. All give their time voluntarily for the restoration of the traditional Mass. Members can be certain that all subscriptions and donations are used only for this purpose. UVA is now on the Internet and has hopes of a national convention in August of 1997.
